Well, it seems that I have terrific news! Former member of Congress and of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Cynthia McKinney (D-GA), will be back in Congress next year! http://www.thenation.com/thebeat/index.mhtml?bid=1&pid=1591

Congressman Bernie Sanders (I-VT) yesterday led a bipartisan coalition in an attempt to restore protections to library and bookstore patrons' records which have been undermined by Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act. The amendment, facing threat of a Presidential veto, received a majority of votes in the U.S. House when the time for voting expired. However, the House Republican Leadership then held open the vote twice as long as scheduled, an additional 20 minutes, as they persuaded Republicans to switch their votes. As Democratic members chanted, "Shame, Shame, Shame," Republican leaders closed the vote on a 210 to 210 tie.

I am glad to see that there are two people, besides myself, who have joined this community. If you are ever talking to someone with a livejournal, who might be interested in joining this community, be sure to mwention it to them. Thanks.

I just want to thank whoever thought of creating this community. All across the country progressives are organizing to take back their country and their party. Maybe this will become the Livejournal wing of that effort.
